Job summary

Acquire4Hire is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support a group of school-age children in a faith-based, safe, learning environment in Mechanicsville, VA. Hours are 2:00-6:00 pm with potential extra hours, no weekends or evenings except occasional staff meetings.

You will work with a team to supervise children, engage them in developmentally appropriate activities, reinforce hygiene, meals, safety procedures, and participate in training and staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in care or educational settings.
• Strong communication with children, parents, and staff.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with team members to provide a safe, happy, and comfortable environment for children.
• Understand basic and individual needs of children and respond appropriately.
• Oversee and supervise the group of children assigned.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities aligned with center policies.
• Carry out discipline per center policy.
• Teach and promote good personal hygiene.
• Serve meals and snacks per center guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, orderly environment for children.
• Understand and implement emergency procedures.
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
• Complete required training related to child care.
