CONNECTICUT INSTITUTE FOR COMMUNITIES INC. is hiring Afternoon Assistant Teachers for the 2:45 - 5:45 PM shift in Danbury. The role supports 1-2 classrooms of Head Start/Preschool children by assisting with routines, curriculum and meals under lead teachers and the Education Services Professional.

Applicants should be 18+, with basic computer skills, and ideally childcare experience. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and a CDA or commitment to obtain one within a year is preferred and

Qualifications

• 18+ years old.
• Entry level position; previous babysitting or childcare experience preferred.
• Basic computer experience is required (i.e. email, word processing, internet navigation).
• Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required (completed or currently enrolled).
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate or a commitment to obtain a CDA within 1 year of employment is required (paid by the employer).
• Early Childhood Education Credits are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in 1-2 classrooms in planning and implementing routines, curriculum, meals and related activities for preschool and/or infant toddler children.
• Serve as assistant in a classroom of Head Start/Preschool children and/or Infant/Toddler group.
• Work under direction of Lead Teachers and be supervised by Education Services Professional.
