Elevance Health is seeking an Afterhours Behavioral Health/EAP Consultant I to support the EAP service department with crisis intervention, assessments, and referrals.

This virtual, third-shift role offers flexibility, required in-person training sessions, and opportunities to assist members with accessing behavioral health benefits under their plan. Prior licensure (LPC/LCSW/LMFT/LMHC) and at least 3 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Requires HS diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of direct psychiatric and/or substance abuse experience.
  • Current unrestricted license such as (but not limited to) LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Professional Counselor, in applicable state(s) required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to initial customer contacts and requests for services; assess situation and determine appropriate action.
  • Provide telephone and/or on-site support for crisis intervention, assessment, short term problem resolution and referral to appropriate provider(s).
  • Manage Critical Incident Stress Debriefing requests.
  • Assess members and assist them in accessing behavioral healthcare benefits available under their health plan.
  • Manage shared mailbox that is used by clients and external vendor to forward information that must be reviewed and placed in documentation system.

Job Description: Anticipated job posting end date: 10/17/26 – Colorado Only Work location – Virtual This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, except for required in-person training sessions, providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. This approach promotes productivity, supports work-life integration, and ensures essential face‑to‑face onboarding and skill development. Alternatelocations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless accommodation is granted as required by law. Work hours: Tuesday - Friday 6pm-2:30am; Saturday 10:30a-7pm EST

Primary Duties
  • Supports Employee Assistance Program (EAP) service department by responding to initial customer contacts and request for services; receives client requests, assesses situation, determines appropriate course of action.
  • Provides telephone and/or on‑site support for crisis intervention, assessment, short term problem resolution and referral to appropriate provider(s).

Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a HS diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of direct psychiatric and/or substance abuse experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current unrestricted license such as (but not limited to) LPC (as allowed by applicable state laws), LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Professional Counselor, in applicable state(s) required.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experiences
  • MA/MS preferred.
  • EAP experience is preferred.
  • Previous call center experience is nice to have.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Salary Range

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $61,680 to $111,024.

This salary range is the range Elevance Health in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations.
