Job summary

University Settlement Society Of New York is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant for a partial year (10 months) assignment at our East Village location. This role runs Monday–Friday, 3:30pm–6:00pm (17.5 hours/week), for middle and high school youth, with a focus on safe, engaging, multidisciplinary activities and student support.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, providing homework help, tracking progress, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or HSE required; current college enrollment is a plus.
Experience working with middle and high school populations.
Commitment for the entire school year.
Must be over 18 years old; energetic, dynamic and positive.

Responsibilities

Create and lead engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring safety and comfort.
Design and implement lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities.
Provide academic assistance during homework period.
Involve children in a range of thematic lessons and activities.
Serve as a positive role model and maintain professional behavior.
Collaborate with co-counselor and supervision staff; communicate regularly.
Communicate progress with parents and caregivers.
Manage program supplies and facilities; complete documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
