Job summary

The ROCK Community Center for Youth and Children (RCCYC) in Indianapolis seeks a Youth Development Specialist to connect with K-12 youth daily, under the Youth Leadership & Service Manager. You will support program delivery, build relationships, model professional conduct, and ensure safety across sessions.

Responsibilities include facilitating activities, preparing materials, engaging youth throughout sessions, and coordinating with staff to maintain coverage and a positive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience working with K-12 youth (paid or volunteer).
• Ability to build rapport with youth while maintaining a professional standard; reliable and punctual.
• Certifications: CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter training, background check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate assigned leadership, service, and general K-12 programming activities per plans.
• Prepare activities, materials, and spaces; assist in design of age-appropriate programming.
• Stay actively engaged with youth; participate, not just supervise.
• Build trust-based relationships and model professional conduct in all interactions.
• Recognize individual needs and respond with a developmental mindset.
• Maintain appropriate youth-to-staff ratios and active supervision.
• Apply de-escalation and behavior-management practices per protocol.
• Follow entry-control and registration procedures; document incidents as required.
• Share observations with the manager and coordinate with team for coverage.
• Participate in required training, including professionalism and safety modules.
