Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 5 to 12 is preferred.
• Ability to follow YMCA policies and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to adapt to diverse ages, abilities, languages, and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise group activities for children after school.
• Supervise individual children under guidance of School-Age Coordinators.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about children and families.
• Promote a safe environment to prevent injuries.
• Build relationships with parents, children, and co-workers in line with YMCA mission.
• Adapt to different ages, abilities, temperaments, and languages.
• Respond to range of children's feelings and encourage independent thinking.
• Encourage children to cooperate, share, and care for materials.
• Use varied approaches to help children learn and problem solve.
• Provide opportunities for children to choose activities and partners.
• Adhere to policies regarding boundaries with youth.
• Attend mandated abuse risk management training.
• Follow procedures for high-risk activities and supervising youth.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
