Job summary

Prospect Schools in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an After School Volleyball Coach for the fall season. You will design and run practices focused on skill development and team cohesion, guiding the team through league play and ensuring a supportive, competitive culture for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate has Volleyball fundamentals, coaching or playing experience at a competitive level, and a passion for youth development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience coaching students ages 10-18.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification prior to start of season and concussion recognition training.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Must be able to work afternoons/evenings as required by game schedule.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead structured volleyball practices developing serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defensive skills.
• Teach game strategy including rotations, formations, and in-game adjustments.
• Prepare the team for matches through drills, scrimmages, and video review when available.
• Organize warm-ups, conditioning, skill stations, and cool-downs for every session.
• Ensure all volleyball equipment is set up and safe.
• Supervise students during practices and games; manage attendance and discipline as needed.
• Lead tryouts and communicate roster decisions to Athletic Coordinator.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment records; assist with end-of-season celebrations.
