Job summary

Berkeley Unified School District is seeking an AfterSchool Program Aide to lead activities for groups of 1–20 children. The role includes tutoring, supervising play, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment on school grounds.

The position requires a high school diploma with coursework in child development and relevant experience in school or after-school settings. CPR/First Aid preferred. Training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus college coursework in child development or related field.
• Two years of experience in a school or extended day program or similar volunteer experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, caring environment and prepare materials for activities; take attendance.
• Tutor groups of 1–20 in reading, math, science, or social studies; assist with homework as needed.
• Lead and supervise activities indoors and outdoors; reinforce positive behaviors.
• Administer first aid and respond to emergencies; communicate with parents as needed.
• Perform clerical duties: typing, duplicating, recording attendance, and maintaining records.
