Job summary

Ravinia Festival seeks a High String Instructor (Violin/Viola) to lead violin/viola studios and high string sectionals for students in grades 4-8 as part of the Sistema Ravinia West Side program in Chicago. You will collaborate with the Program Manager and Artistic Manager to uphold high musical standards and foster student growth.

Qualifications

• Strong background in music education with experience teaching beginners–intermediate string students in a group setting.
• Experience working with students from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience (Bachelor of Music or Music Education preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead violin/viola studios and high string sectional rehearsals for beginning and intermediate level students in grades 4-8.
• Teach repertoire and develop student technical facility and musicianship.
• Participate in instructor meetings, professional learning, and student/parent meetings as needed.
• Assess student progress on an ongoing basis.
• Supervise all on site activities including snack, restroom breaks, transitions, and dismissal.
• Maintain attendance records and provide supports and interventions as needed.
• Foster a supportive community environment for all students.
