Job summary

Play-Well TEKnologies in Santa Barbara, CA is seeking a part-time LEGO instructor for afterschool and camp programs. You will teach engaging LEGO activities, manage classes, and ensure a fun, safe environment for children.

The role involves afternoons on school days and half/full-day camps in summer. Compensation is hourly ($20.00–$25.50) with paid hours including setup, drive time, and training, plus standard benefits for longer-term staff.

Qualifications

• Teaching/Instruction experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation a must.
• Must pass all background checks.

Responsibilities

• Manage each class session to keep children safe, engaged, and having fun.
• Communicate with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful manner.
• Follow safety procedures and supervise release of children.
• Care for LEGO teaching kits and equipment.
• Respond promptly to management communications and updates.
• Coordinate with Area Manager for questions and updates.

Schedule

• School Year: M-F afternoons, part-time, flexible, occasional weekend hours
• Summer: M-F, half-day and full-day camps, typically between 9am and 4pm, plus setup/breakdown

Compensation

Instructors are paid for all hours worked, including teaching, setup, round trip drive time, and training. Also, any day that you teach, you receive AT MINIMUM 3 hours of pay

Qualifications

• Serves as a representative of Play-Well in a positive and professional manner.
• Completes all training programs as required by the Area Manager.
• Understands the curriculum and concepts thoroughly to be able to provide value to participants with diverse abilities and interests.
• Manages each class session, ensuring the children are safe, engaged, and having fun.
• Communicates with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.
• Adheres to all Play-Well and facility safety procedures and procedures for supervision and release of children.
• Care, safekeeping, and upkeep of assigned LEGO teaching kit(s).
• Responds quickly to communications from management, whether by phone, text, email or mail.
• Regularly communicates with Area Manager with questions, concerns and updates.

Education / Experience / Requirements

• Work history varies. Teaching/Instruction experience is preferred.
• Reliable transportation a must; secure location to store teaching materials.
• Lift up to 40 lbs to store and transport materials; bending, stooping and crawling with children during class instruction.
• Must pass all background checks as a condition of employment.
