Job summary

Play-Well TEKnologies in Falls Church, VA seeks a part-time instructor for after-school LEGO-based STEM activities. You will teach, manage classes, ensure safety, and communicate with parents to support engaging, hands-on learning.

Schedule is school-year afternoons with occasional weekends; summer camps run 9am–4pm with setup/breakdown. Compensation includes pay for all hours plus minimum 3 hours for teaching days.

Qualifications

• Teaching/Instruction experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation required; secure storage for materials.
• Lift up to 40 lbs to move materials; assist children during class.

Responsibilities

• Represent Play-Well in a positive, professional manner.
• Complete all required training with Area Manager.
• Understand curriculum to deliver engaging activities for diverse learners.
• Manage each class session to keep children safe, engaged and having fun.
• Communicate with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful way.
• Follow Play-Well safety procedures for supervision and release of children.
• Care for LEGO teaching kit(s) and related materials.
• Respond promptly to management communications (phone, text, email).
• Maintain regular updates with the Area Manager.

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $22.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Schedule

• School Year: M-F afternoons, part-time, flexible, occasional weekend hours


• Summer: M-F, half-day and full-day camps, typically between 9am and 4pm, plus setup/breakdown

Compensation

Instructors are paid for all hours worked, including teaching, setup, round trip drive time, and training.

Also, any day that you teach, you receive AT MINIMUM 3 hours of pay

• Communicates with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.


• Adheres to all Play-Well and facility safety procedures and procedures for supervision and release of children.


• Care, safekeeping, and upkeep of assigned LEGO teaching kit(s).


• Responds quickly to communications from management, whether by phone, text, email or mail.


• Regularly communicates with Area Manager with questions, concerns and updates.

Education / Experience / Requirements

• Work history varies. Teaching/Instruction experience is preferred.


• Reliable transportation a must; secure location to store teaching materials.


• Lift up to 40 lbs to store and transport materials; bending, stooping and crawling with children during class instruction.


• Must pass all background checks as a condition of employment.
