Job summary

Play-Well TEKnologies in Alexandria, VA is seeking a part-time LEGO instructor to lead after-school and summer camps, ensuring children are safe, engaged, and having fun.

You will manage each class, deliver the curriculum, communicate with parents in a knowledgeable, respectful way, and maintain LEGO teaching kits. Reliable transportation, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Teaching/Instruction experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation required.

• Must pass all background checks as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Manage each class session, ensuring children are safe, engaged and having fun.
• Deliver the curriculum and keep activities aligned with the lesson goals.
• Communicate with parents in a knowledgeable, respectful and timely manner.
• Care for and upkeep of assigned LEGO teaching kits and materials.
• Respond to management communications promptly and maintain alignment with Area Manager.

Job Details

Job Location: Alexandria, City in Virginia - Alexandria, VA 22206

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $22.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Schedule

School Year: M-F afternoons, part-time, flexible, occasional weekend hours

Summer: M-F, half-day and full-day camps, typically between 9am and 4pm, plus setup/breakdown

Compensation

Instructors are paid for all hours worked, including teaching, setup, round trip drive time, and training. Also, any day that you teach, you receive AT MINIMUM 3 hours of pay

Qualifications

• Serves as a representative of Play-Well in a positive and professional manner.
• Completes all training programs as required by the Area Manager.
• Understands the curriculum and concepts thoroughly to be able to provide value to participants with diverse abilities and interests.
• Manages each class session, ensuring the children are safe, engaged, and having fun.
• Communicates with parents and clients in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.
• Adheres to all Play-Well and facility safety procedures and procedures for supervision and release of children.
• Care, safekeeping, and upkeep of assigned LEGO teaching kit(s).
• Responds quickly to communications from management, whether by phone, text, email or mail.
• Regularly communicates with Area Manager with questions, concerns and updates.

Education / Experience / Requirements

• Work history varies. Teaching/Instruction experience is preferred.
• Reliable transportation a must; secure location to store teaching materials.
• Lift up to 40 lbs to store and transport materials; bending, stooping and crawling with children during class instruction.
• Must pass all background checks as a condition of employment.
