Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles seeks a Site Coordinator, After School, ASES Grant, to lead an engaging, evidence-based after-school program for elementary students under an ASES grant. You will coach staff, collaborate with school admins, and ensure high-quality enrichment and academic support in a safe, welcoming environment.

The role focuses on mentoring Team Members, partnering with schools and families, and delivering activities that foster belonging, confidence, and growth on a part-time,

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College coursework in Child Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete the district required basic education assessment.
  • Experience leading adults and working with School-Age children in a group setting.
  • Experience planning and implementing age appropriate, developmentally appropriate youth programs.
  • Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with children, families, school staff, and Team Members.
  • Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment.
  • Completion of required health screenings and background clearances prior to working with participants.

  • Help ensure the program operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with YMCA and ASES grant requirements while fostering a positive culture for children and Team Members.

Position Summary

Every afternoon, families trust the YMCA to provide a place where their children can continue learning, build friendships, and discover new interests after the final school bell rings. As the Site Coordinator, After School, ASES Grant, you'll lead a high quality, ASES-funded after school program that helps children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. You'll coach and support a team of Program Leaders, partner closely with school administrators and families, and oversee engaging club based experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and foster a true sense of belonging. This is a part-time, seasonal, grant-funded position supporting elementary school students during the academic year.

Schedule

This is a part-time, seasonal position that follows the school calendar. Site Coordinators typically work Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., averaging approximately 25 hours per week. Occasional morning, evening, and weekend hours may be required for paid trainings, professional development, family events, and special events throughout the year. Additional opportunities for work may be available during school intersessions, summer day camp, and other YMCA youth programs.
