Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Peoria, AZ, is seeking an After-School Program Assistant to support the Co-Curricular Programs at the Academy.

Responsibilities include supervising up to 20 students, facilitating homework and activities, and presenting lessons from the classical curriculum under supervision. This part-time role runs after school, 15–20 hours weekly, with potential local campus substitutions as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years old and have a high school diploma or be enrolled in high school.
• First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates principled, professional leadership with an independent work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.
• Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.
• Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
• Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.
• Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
• Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
• Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
• Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
• Substitute at another campus when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
