Job summary

Hudson Table is looking for Kitchen Assistants to support kids in culinary and baking classes and parties for ages 4-14. This hybrid role blends back-of-house and front-of-house tasks in a fun, educational setting.

The position requires after-school programming on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:15pm to 6:00pm, with compensation of $75 for a 4-hour shift plus tips. Training provided; may assist with pickup programs.

Qualifications

• Culinary degree from an accredited program or 1–2 years of food industry experience.
• 1–2 years of experience working with children.
• Knowledge of food ingredients and kitchen safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up the kitchen for hands-on cooking classes and events with clean, functional equipment.
• Prepare mise en place for workstations including ingredients and tools.
• Review recipes and lesson plans to ensure all items and staff are prepared.
• Assist the Chef Instructor and kids with food items during class.
• Answer questions from kids and defer to the instructor when needed.
• Maintain clean kitchen and prep areas; clear spills and return used equipment to storage.
• Return clean dishes and equipment to designated storage spaces.
• Breakdown and clean kitchen areas; store pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Culinary Director or Chef Instructor.
• May be asked to pick children up from school for Hudson Table pickup program.
