Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 college credits.
• Experience teaching guitar or providing private lessons.
• Strong understanding of basic music theory and guitar fundamentals.
• Experience working with kids or teens (schools, camps, lessons, etc.).
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured, engaging guitar sessions for small to mid-sized groups.
• Support students across varying skill levels (beginner to intermediate).
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain safe routines for instrument use and classroom management.
• Adapt instruction based on student ability and group dynamics.
• Communicate with site staff and track attendance/session completion.
• Prepare students for a simple performance or showcase (when applicable).

What You’ll Teach

• Basic chords, strumming patterns, and finger placement
• Reading chord charts and simple notation (as appropriate)
• Rhythm, timing, and song structure
• Proper technique and instrument care
• Playing simple songs individually and in small groups
• Building confidence through practice and performance
