Job summary

Empowering People's Independence (EPI) in Geneva, NY seeks a compassionate Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with brain injury and other disabilities, advocating for rights and providing supervision, training, and daily living support.

This per diem role offers 1–2 days per week after school, with pay from $18 to $20 per hour. Requirements include a NY driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and completion of required trainings within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in the human service field preferred.
• Valid New York State driver’s license; vehicle may be required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must complete required trainings within 90 days of hire.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Applicants cannot have the same address as person supported.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, training, and assistance in activities of daily living (self-care, social, recreation, community, domestic skills).
• Mentor a 7 year old boy, serving as a positive role model while helping him engage with the community and activities of interest.
