Kings Bay Y/ JCC Brooklyn is seeking a part‑time Daycare Teacher Assistant for children aged 1–5, to support the Regular Teacher and ensure a positive learning environment. The role offers a flexible schedule with after‑school hours and potential for full‑time placement as positions open.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, supervising students, tracking attendance, and adapting methods to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility and critical‑thinking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt plans to specific classrooms.
• General knowledge of several subjects.
• Experience in leading and instructing childcare students – at least 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans provided by the Regular Teacher.
• Encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Track attendance, collect homework and provide supervision.
• Work with students individually or in groups and adapt teaching methods.
• Manage and instruct the class from roll call to cleanup.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom.
• For long‑term substitutes: develop lesson plans aligned with past plans.
