Job summary

La Allstars in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a part-time Program Leader to support after-school enrichment and tutoring activities. You will work under the ASAS-LA Program Coordinator to provide safe, engaging learning experiences for youth in a school setting.

The role requires experience with K-12 students, collaboration with district staff and families, and a teaching credential with First Aid/ CPR certification. Fingerprint and TB clearance are required; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with K-12 students in educational/community settings.
• Ability to work with School District staff, parents and leaders.
• Familiarity with benchmarks in ELA, Math, Science and other core subjects.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Fingerprint clearance prior to working with youth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist planning and implementing daily academic and tutoring initiatives under the program coordinator.
• Create a rigorous academic environment and sound classroom management; prepare supplies and materials.
• Supervise participants in the classroom.
• Communicate with participants and families about questions or concerns regarding their child’s well-being.
• Maintain professional attitude and coordinate with staff on program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly Rate is $25.00

Basic Assignment: Teachers will assist in providing leadership and support in academic enrichment and tutoring activities and initiatives. Under the direct supervision of the ASAS-LA Program Coordinator, Teachers will seek to provide a safe environment to educate, enlighten and inspire youth in a school setting.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with K-12 students in educational and / or community youth outreach setting within a classroom.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for academic benchmarks in English/Language Arts, Math, Science and other core subjects.
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Possess a current teaching credential.
• Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to working with youth.
• TB test clearance on or before start (within 60 days of start)
• Physical ability to lead and participate in structured activities.
• Fluency in a language other than English highly desirable.

Major Functions:

• Lead and assist in the planning and implementation of the daily academic and tutoring support initiatives of the after-school program under the direction of program coordinator.
• Lead and assist in preparing rigorous academic environment sound classroom management practices, including the preparation of needed supplies and materials.
• Supervise participants in said classroom.
• Advise and communicate with participants and families any questions or concerns related to their child’s weel-being.
• Maintain professional attitude.
• Communicate with program coordinator and school staff regarding class/club program activities.
• Communicate with parents and families regarding program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
