Job summary

HOKALI is seeking a Creative Writing Educator to lead an after-school program for TK–8th grade students, planning engaging writing activities and storytelling exercises that build creativity and self-expression in a safe, supportive environment.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–4:30 PM. Estimated start date: Sept 14, 2026; end date: Dec 3, 2026. Pay: $50 per hour. Candidates must be 18+, have US work authorization, and complete 3 hours of online training prior to start.

Qualifications

• Experience leading after-school or youth writing activities.
• Ability to adapt to TK–8th grade learners.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead an after-school Creative Writing program for TK–8th grade.
• Ensure student safety and well-being at all times.
• Foster creativity, confidence, self-expression, and communication skills through writing activities.
• Plan and lead engaging creative writing lessons, storytelling exercises, and skill-building activities.
• Adapt instruction to different ages, writing levels, learning styles, and interests.
• Encourage students to explore their imagination and express themselves through writing.
• Facilitate positive social interactions, collaboration, and peer feedback.
• Effectively manage student behavior using positive reinforcement.
• Maintain accurate attendance and incident records.
• Prepare and organize writing materials and activities; keep space safe and organized.
