Job summary

The YMCA of Upper Palmetto in Blacksburg, SC is seeking an After School Counselor (Part Time) to lead an afterschool group under supervision, ensuring safety and alignment with the YMCA mission. The role is part-time and located at 1299 Camp Cherokee Road Kings Mountain State Park, Blacksburg, SC.

The counselor will assist with various branch activities, maintain attendance records, and plan engaging activities.

Qualifications

• Exposure to small structured group work.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be at least a junior in high school.
• No experience required.
• Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25lbs.), and walking

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for after school group.
• Maintain discipline within after school group.
• Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents.
• Remain with after school group at all times.
• Plan and implement open period activities.
• Maintain reports and attendance records.
• Follow established after school procedures and guidelines.
• Follow the YMCA mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
