Job summary

Workstream is seeking an After School Counselor to join the Catoosa County program. You will design and implement daily activities for K-5th graders, supervise the classroom, and help ensure safety while fostering a positive, inclusive environment after school hours.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and being at least 18 years old; some college is preferred. You will collaborate with staff, attend trainings, and build relationships with diverse families.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with children in developmental settings and diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within guidelines.
• Supervise children and all activities; ensure safety.
• Maintain sign-in/sign-out rosters and program records.
• Attend family nights, staff meetings, and trainings; address emergencies as they occur.
• Develop positive relationships with children from diverse backgrounds.

Job description

Combine your skills and passion with our mission and join our After School Program team in Catoosa County helping children in your area learn and grow. As an After School Counselor, you will play and laugh with K-5th graders, as you implement activities and lessons that help them thrive. Shifts for this job are after school every Monday through Friday from 2pm-6pm, each day school is in session.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines.
• Supervise children, classroom, and all activities.
• Ensure the children's safety.
• Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child..
• Maintain required program records including sign in/sign out rosters.
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training.
• Address emergencies as they occur.
• Develop positive, authentic relationships with children from different backgrounds.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience working with children in a developmental setting & with diverse populations preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lead and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings, in various temperatures.
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, see, hear, listen and lift (up to 50 pounds).
