Job summary

Upper Palmetto YMCA in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a part-time afterschool counselor to provide program leadership for an afterschool group under supervision. The counselor will assist the Childcare Director and Branch staff with various branch activities and ensure the safety and well-being of participants.

No prior experience is required, but candidates must be at least 16 and a junior in high school. A positive attitude and commitment to YMCA values are essential, along with carrying out duties

Qualifications

• Exposure to small structured group work.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be at least a junior in high school.

• Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA.
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25lbs.), and walking.

Responsibilities

• Leadership for specific after school group.
• Maintain discipline within after school group.
• Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents.
• Remain with after school group at all times.
• Plan and implement open period activities.
• Maintain reports and attendance records.
• Follow established after school procedures and guidelines.
• Follow the YMCA mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
