Job summary

Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools is seeking an After School Teaching Assistant/Substitute to support its after-school programs at multiple sites in Sioux Falls. You will help plan activities, supervise children, and foster a safe, inclusive environment after school hours.

Qualifications

• Previous child care experience preferred.
• Must be able to comprehend policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Mobility required.
• Able to set up and take down tables and participate in activities with children.
• High energy, flexible and adaptable.
• Familiar with and able to operate all equipment used in a childcare center.

Responsibilities

• Assist the leader with planning and implementing activities promoting growth in a positive environment.
• Provide and maintain a safe environment for children; apply child development concepts.
• Use positive discipline: redirection, clear expectations, choices and praise.
• Model positive behavior to help children manage anger and frustration.
• Supervise and interact during activities.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality; communicate effectively with parents.
• Promote teamwork with staff and sanitize toys regularly.
