Job summary

The Catholic Center invites applications for a part-time after-school assistant at Saint Raphael Catholic School in Raleigh, North Carolina. Hours are 10-12 per week, three days a week, 2:30pm–6:00pm, supporting the school’s mission and Safe Environment policies.

Responsibilities include supervising students, modeling Catholic values, planning engaging activities, assisting with daily logistics, and maintaining a warm, respectful environment for ages Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred; however, qualified candidates who are at least 18 years of age are encouraged to apply.
• Previous experience in education, childcare, recreation, camp programs, youth ministry, or related fields is preferred.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church is preferred, committed to Catholic education.

Responsibilities

• Accept and actively support the mission of Saint Raphael Catholic School as articulated at the diocesan and school level.
• Model and integrate virtues and values that support schoolwide core values of reverence, service, and leadership.
• Serve as a positive role model for students by fostering a safe, welcoming, and respectful afterschool environment.
• Ensure the welfare and safety of students at all times and respond appropriately to student needs and emergencies.
• Plan, supervise, and participate in engaging activities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and service projects.
• Provide students with a structured environment that supports homework completion when appropriate.
• Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining a high level of attentiveness and awareness.
• Build positive relationships with students while encouraging respectful behavior, responsibility, and good decision-making.
• Address minor behavioral concerns with consistency, patience, and professionalism, seeking assistance from the Program Director when appropriate.
• Assist the Program Director with daily logistics, including set-up, dismissal procedures, cleaning, and end-of-day organization.
• Maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with students, families, faculty, and fellow afterschool staff.
• Contribute to a positive Catholic school culture rooted in service, collaboration, and joyful care for children.
