Position: Ignite After School Care Instructor

Reports To: Head of After School and Summer Programming

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:00 PM (excluding school holidays and closures)

Work Calendar: School year (blackout dates may apply)

The Ignite After School Care Instructor is responsible for supervising, ensuring safety, and delivering the afterschool curriculum and care for Holy Spirit Episcopal School (HSES) students. The role involves planning and executing age-appropriate activities, including snacks, outdoor play, and arts and crafts, aligned with HSES’s philosophy and policies.

  1. Supervise children in the classroom, guiding and redirecting behavior as needed.
  2. Understand and implement the daily curriculum and schedule.
  3. Promote Holy Spirit Episcopal School’s culture among staff and students.
  4. Manage pick-up and drop-off procedures effectively.
  5. Set up and clean up materials for lessons, crafts, and games.
  6. Assist students with toileting and personal hygiene as needed.
  7. Prepare and sort student work for crafts and projects.
  8. Ensure students are ready for pick-up, retrieving bags and water bottles.
  9. Document and maintain student work records.
  10. Maintain technology skills as per school standards.
  11. Participate in training programs as recommended.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 18 years of age.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Experience working with young children, preferably in an independent school setting.
  4. Effective communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students.
  5. Dependability and alignment with HSES culture and teamwork.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to oversee outdoor activities.
  2. Work in a climate-controlled indoor environment.
  3. Physical agility to lift up to 30 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, reach, and sit on the floor.
