Job summary

The YMCA Beacons School Success Lead is a part-time role (15–20 hours per week) based at Bruce F. Vento Elementary School in Saint Paul, after-school hours Monday to Thursday.

The role focuses on mentoring youth, planning lessons, and leading group activities within the Beacons network to provide high-quality after-school and summer programming. The position emphasizes youth development, collaboration with staff, and a commitment to inclusive, engaging programming.

Qualifications

• Experience or education in youth development, child development, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and mediation skills.
• Willingness to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement enrichment curriculum and program activities with a group of young people.
• Provide work direction to program staff and volunteers while on duty.
• Evaluate the program and recommend changes to leadership.
• Ensure center and classroom spaces are clean and organized.
• Perform administrative tasks including attendance tracking.
• Assist in promoting the program and recruiting youth.
