Job Description

As an Affordable Housing Training Associate, you will bring your affordable housing and property management expertise to an experienced Learning & Development team. You do not need to have spent your career in a traditional Learning & Development role. We are interested in professionals who have experience sharing their knowledge with others, whether through training team members, providing technical assistance, leading presentations, supporting new employees, or explaining new systems, processes, regulations, and requirements. As part of the Learning & Development team, you will build upon that experience and continue developing your training, facilitation, and presentation skills. You will learn to create and deliver engaging learning experiences in virtual, in-person, and one-on-one environments while helping new hires and existing employees strengthen their technical knowledge and master key property management systems such as Voyager, RentCafe, and Elise AI. This is a hybrid Maryland-based role with semi-monthly travel to the Columbia office for new hire orientation. The position requires someone who is comfortable sharing their expertise with others and interested in continuing to grow their ability to train and present to teams of different sizes, both virtually and in person. If you have built your career in affordable housing or property management and have become someone others turn to for guidance, technical assistance, training, or help understanding how things work, this could be an opportunity to use that expertise in a new way while developing the skills to become an effective trainer and facilitator.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Apply your affordable housing, property management, and community development knowledge to support employees across the organization.
  • Help employees understand affordable housing and property management practices, processes, systems, and other technical information necessary to perform their roles effectively.
  • Design and deliver technical and soft skills training programs tailored to employee needs in property management and community development.
  • Share technical knowledge through presentations, training sessions, demonstrations, guides, manuals, and other resources for virtual, in-person, and one-on-one learning.
  • Develop your training and facilitation skills while creating interactive and engaging presentations and learning materials with support from the Learning & Development team.
  • Support blended learning solutions, including e-learning modules, webinars, in-person sessions, and microlearning resources.
  • Collaborate with property management, community development, cross-functional teams, and leadership to identify knowledge and training needs and support organizational change initiatives.
  • Gather surveys, assessments, feedback, and performance information to help evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain training records, attendance, assessments, and retraining requirements in relevant systems, including SharePoint and LMS platforms.
  • Stay current on affordable housing and property management industry practices while continuing to develop knowledge of training, facilitation, and learning methodologies.
  • Produce quarterly reports on training programs, participation, and outcomes for senior leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in affordable property management, affordable housing, or community development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, housing, community development, urban planning, business, public administration, or a related field; or related experience and/or certifications.
  • Experience with property management software, Yardi Voyager Affordable platform preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to clearly explain information to others.
  • Comfortable presenting to teams of various sizes and delivering information in virtual and in-person environments.
  • Flexible, self-directed, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web-based tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience training, facilitating, presenting, providing technical assistance, or supporting the development of others.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and evaluation methods.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, multimedia training platforms, and e-learning software.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Emotional intelligence to work with staff at all levels of the organization and adapt communication and training approaches to different audiences.
