Job summary

Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp. in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Compliance Specialist to support affordable housing compliance across its rental portfolio. This full-time, on-site role involves audits, file management, and collaboration with the Compliance Manager and VP of Property Management.

Required: 1 year in affordable property management compliance, tax credit/Section 8 knowledge, and strong MS Word/Excel/Outlook skills. Travel to properties may be needed; vehicle and license required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in affordable property management compliance.
• Experience and certification with tax credit and Section 8 is a must.
• BA in a related field of study preferred.
• Computer literacy is required, specifically in MS Word, Excel (advanced level preferred) and Outlook for Windows.
• Experience with OneSite or other property management software is desired.
• In person (no remote or work from home).
• Must have access to a vehicle, proof of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license for field work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in internal tenant file audits for completeness and accuracy and ensure files comply with the standardized tenant file structure.
• Assist with coordination for funder site visits and external file audits and correct files as required.
• Coordinate with asset management to gather resident file information for compliance reporting.
• Maintain and utilize property-specific recertification electronic file templates.
• Oversee compliance requirements for funding programs and coordinate with staff to meet all requirements.
• Assist with site visits and file audits, including on-site representation when necessary.
• Develop and implement internal and external compliance policies and procedures; include roll out and training.
• Assist with OneSite system setup and maintenance; manage document uploads and field questions.
