Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aerothermal Engineer to support NASA’s JETSII contract in Houston. You will apply high-speed aerothermodynamics to human-rated spacecraft, utilizing NASA CFD tools to analyze entry trajectories and generate CFD grids and visualizations.

Your work includes interpreting ground tests and flight data across a broad flight regime, collaborating with NASA civil servants and contractors. Ideal candidates have advanced degrees and proven experience in hypersonic/aerothermodynamic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with related experience.
• BS/MS/PhD in engineering with direct engineering experience at multiple levels.
• Expertise in high-speed aerothermodynamics.
• Experience with NASA Aerothermal CFD solvers: DPLR, LAURA, LociCHEM, US3D, HyperSolve, FUN3D.
• Expertise in entry vehicles, including supersonic and hypersonic flows, aerodynamics and trajectories.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with NASA civil servants and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-speed aerothermodynamics to human-rated spacecraft.
• Utilize NASA Aerothermal CFD solvers for entry analysis.
• Create CFD grids using grid generation software.
• Create CFD visualizations.
• Analyze ground test and flight data from aerodynamic and aerothermal perspectives.
• Perform detailed aerothermodynamic analyses over a wide range of flight regimes.
• Perform other duties as required.
