Job summary

Parker Hannifin's Exotic Metals Forming Division in Kent, WA is hiring a TIG Welder for aerospace components. Swing Shift and Day shift positions available; typical hours 4:00am - 2:30pm or 2:30pm - 1:00am.

You will apply basic welding processes to join sheet metal aircraft components as specified by written instructions, weld schedules and drawings. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, ability to read blueprints and GD&T, and weld qualifications including Fillet Welding.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Able to read router operations, sketches, blueprints and specifications.
  • Familiar with GD&T and perform basic calculations for welding.
  • Hold Exotic Metals TIG weld qualifications, including fillet welding.

Responsibilities

  • Complete routine and some advanced welding tasks per instructions.
  • Prepare weld surfaces properly.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, weld schedules, drawings and documents.
  • Work safely according to standards and procedures.
  • Perform fitting of assemblies.
  • May train others on prior job experience.
  • Repair some parts as needed.
  • Regularly evaluate own product quality for continuous improvement.
  • Work under limited oversight.
  • Complete Exotic Metals TIG weld training or equivalent experience.
  • Meet weld qualification requirements including Fillet Welding.
  • Read router operations, sketches, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and where to find it.
  • Move to various work areas as required.
  • Apply mathematics relevant to welding functions.
  • Operate machine tools and precision instruments with dexterity.

TIG Welder (Aerospace)

Swing Shift and Day shift positions open.

Average shift times: Monday through Thursday, 4:00am - 2:30pm, or 2:30pm - 1:00am.

Applies basic welding processes to join sheet metal aircraft components as specified by written instructions, weld schedules and drawings. Visually and dimensionally inspects completed work for conformance to verbal/written instruction and specifications. Works well as a team member and seeks clarification to refine welding techniques.

Functions, Responsibilities And Required Experience
  • Completes routine and some advanced welding tasks while applying standard practices.
  • Properly prepares weld surfaces.
  • Interprets and follows written instructions, sketches, weld schedules, drawings and documents.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Performs fitting of assemblies.
  • May train others on prior job experience.
  • Repairs some of his or her own parts.
  • Regularly evaluates his/her own product quality for continuous improvement.
  • Works under limited oversight.
  • Successfully complete the Exotic Metals TIG weld training program and/or have equivalent experience.
  • Hold multiple, basic Exotic Metals weld qualification/certifications, including Fillet Welding as required.
  • Meets or exceeds operations standards for efficiency.
  • Reads and understands router operations, sketches, blueprints, and specifications as necessary to perform the job function.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); knows where to find this information at Exotic and asks for help when necessary.
  • Can move to various work areas easily with experience.
  • Must be able to use mathematics relevant to welding functions.
  • Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
  • Knows when to stop and finds appropriate interpretation when necessary.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
Working Condition
  • Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries.
Physical Requirements
  • The welder performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

  • Pay Range: $22/hr to $33.8/hr
