Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. is seeking an experienced weld inspector in Wichita, KS to oversee welding quality and safety across production. You will inspect welds, verify specifications, and ensure compliance with AWS and customer requirements while supporting certification processes.

The role requires 5+ years in welding-related fields, AWS QC1 certification, and the ability to read engineering drawings. This is a union-represented, full-time position with shifts available and a focus on quality

Qualifications

• Must be willing and able to work any shift.
• 5+ years of experience in welding fabrication, inspection, design, repair, or related function.
• Valid AWS QC1 certification or verification of previously held AWS QC1 certification.
• Knowledge of fusion, resistance, and orbital welding processes and inspection methods.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Spirit Production Weld Inspection Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform production and tooling weld inspections per requirements.
• Conduct visual weld inspections of fusion welds and metallographic inspections of resistance welds.
• Perform weld pressure testing, hardness testing, and related inspections.
• Maintain welding inspection certifications and trainings.
• Interpret welding specs, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Verify compliance with AWS standards and customer specs.
• Support welder certification processes and ensure quality standards.
• Document weld defects and communicate issues to teams.
• Cross-train in additional inspection methods as needed.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams.
