Job summary

PPG Industries in Huntsville, AL is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support product conformity, defect prevention, and continuous improvement in a regulated aerospace environment. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline is required.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in quality, manufacturing, engineering, or a related technical role is required.
• Exposure to aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
• Formal quality certifications are a plus but not required.
• Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Execute quality engineering activities supporting manufacturing, repair, and support operations, ensuring quality requirements, control plans, inspection strategies, and risk mitigations are effectively implemented in daily processes.
• Collect, analyze, and trend quality performance data related to defects, nonconformances, yields, and customer issues; prepare reports and dashboards to support problem-solving, management reviews, and decision-making.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives by documenting investigations, tracking actions to closure, verifying effectiveness, and ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to resolve day-to-day quality issues, evaluate process and engineering changes, and improve producibility, repeatability, and workmanship.
• Serve as a quality representative for assigned products, processes, or work areas, providing guidance and escalating emerging risks, quality concerns, and adverse trends as appropriate.
• Support customer quality activities and internal, customer, and certification audits by preparing quality records, investigating issues, responding to findings, and ensuring compliance with AS9100, QMS, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on defect reduction, variation control, process stability, and standardization by applying quality tools and basic Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.

As the Quality Engineer is a hands-on technical contributor responsible for executing quality engineering activities that support product conformity, defect prevention, and continuous improvement in a regulated aerospace environment. You will work closely with Senior Quality Engineers and the Engineering Manager.
