Advantage Technical in Laurel, MD seeks a skilled Spacecraft Thermal Technician to build, test, and prepare unique spacecraft hardware for launch. The role emphasizes meticulous workmanship, following detailed procedures, and collaboration with engineers and technicians.

This temporary position runs through mid-2028 in a dynamic, hands-on environment. You will design, fabricate, install, and test thermal systems, traveling to launch sites as required to support readiness and verification

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, sewing, upholstery, textiles, composites, or similarly detailed hands-on work.
• Strong sewing, fabrication, and manual dexterity skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and established procedures.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and install thermal insulation materials, including multilayer insulation and foam.
• Shape and encapsulate intricate foam components using specialized tape.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and specifications.
• Follow quality-control and inspection requirements.
• Partner with engineers, designers, and technical staff to solve complex problems.
• Provide independent observations and assessments of completed work.
• Support spacecraft hardware testing and launch preparation.
• Travel to launch sites and testing facilities as needed.

Advantage Technical is hiring a skilled, hands-on Spacecraft Thermal Technician to help build, test, and prepare one-of-a-kind spacecraft hardware for launch. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys intricate work, follows detailed instructions, and takes pride in getting every measurement, cut, stitch, and installation right.

You’ll work alongside engineers, scientists, and technical professionals while designing, fabricating, installing, and testing spacecraft thermal systems.
