Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Waco, TX is seeking a Specialist, Technical Writing to gather, compose, and edit manuals for warfighters and government programs. You will work with engineers and designers to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable documentation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree with aerospace technical writing experience or eight years of equivalent experience, and may require a Secret DoD clearance. On-site work with 9/80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior technical writing experience in an Aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.
• Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior technical writing experience in an Aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of prior technical writing experience in an Aerospace-driven environment or within the defense industry.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements.
• Compile and structure researched technical information for development of documentation.
• Authoring content for illustrated parts catalogs/maintenance manuals/flight operations/ICA documents in FrameMaker or equivalent.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation for end users.
• Ensure documentation adheres to DoD and FAA regulations (ATA100, iSpec 2200, MIL-PRF-38807C, MIL-STD-2361C, MIL-STD-37874).
• Work with management on budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• May manage projects with general supervision.
• Recommend enhancements to systems and processes.
• Support program targets with moderate impact on department results.
