Job summary

Parker Aerospace’s Services & Support Operations division seeks a Technical Author Specialist II in Irvine, CA. You will develop and maintain aerospace technical publications, ensuring compliance with ATA100, ATA iSpec2200, and S1000D, coordinating revisions with dispersed stakeholders and customers.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in technical publications or related roles, and strong writing, editing, and research skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 6+ years of related experience in technical publications, and/or librarian or technical support disciplines.
• Knowledge of aerospace systems, and technical writing practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate revisions to technical publications by inspecting drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Apply ATA100, ATA iSpec2200, S1000D, and ASD Simplified English standards as needed.
• Communicate with customers and track projects using data/configuration management systems.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of publications through reviews and discrepancy tracking.
• Develop publications that explain complex systems in clear, concise language.
• Verify publications meet technical requirements and resolve conflicts with customers.
• Create detailed plans to meet schedule, cost, and technical requirements; balance customer needs with standards.
• Support technical accuracy by integrating engineering inputs into publications.
• Guide art and production teams on formatting and layout for final output.
• Monitor publication processes and improve workflows through continuous improvement methods.
• Collaborate with other teams to identify and implement documentation improvements.
