Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mission Requirements & Verification Lead to drive system verification across multiple missions. You will coordinate with Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Flight Software, Payload & Mission Integration, and Ground Systems teams to define verification plans and ensure traceability of requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama).
  • 5+ years of space system development or test engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of spacecraft verification experience.
  • Experience in requirements definition, traceability, interfaces, design docs, integration, verification, and validation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform as the Mission Requirements & Verification Lead for a critical Blue Ring customer mission, including all aspects of requirement decomposition, derivation, and allocation
  • Collaborate with the Blue Ring Mission Lead Systems Engineers, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Flight Software, Payload & Mission Integration, and Ground Systems Engineering Teams to define system and mission verification plans across multiple customers and missions
  • Engage with internal and external customers, including government agencies and contractors, to perform analysis of unique customer and mission requirements and verification needs
  • Develop and manage requirements and verification modules, including internal and external interfaces, with accurate flow-down and traceability
  • Understand and define the relationships and traceability between requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, ICDs, program plans, and technical performance measures
  • Establish verification approaches and plans for system requirements and identify Integration and Test activities required for successful requirements selloff
  • Work across organizational boundaries to manage the successful acquisition of verification data necessary to show compliance to system requirements
  • Perform compliance and traceability assessments and be able to report key metrics and issues effectively to program leadership and stakeholders
  • Create and own system-level spacecraft verification plans and execution
  • Support launch site system testing, including payload and launch vehicle integration
  • Develop product line verification plans and roll-up deliverables
  • Deliver verification reports that ensure launch and operational readiness
  • Ensure all payload interface requirements are met and spacecraft is ready for count-down
  • Verify end-to-end functionality of system including ground system compatibility
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Software engineering, or equivalent technical field
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, etc.
  • 5+ or more years of space system development or test engineering experience
  • 2+ or more years of spacecraft verification experience
  • Demonstrated experience performing activities such as requirements definition, traceability, interface definition, design documentation, integration, verification, and validation
  • Background in creating requirement verification reports and roll-up verification of lower level requirements to system level sell-off
  • Experience across the Systems Engineering lifecycle and the "Systems Engineering V"
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
  • Spacecraft operations, command & control system experience, including familiarity with spacecraft and ground-system internal and external interfaces and/or spacecraft communications uplink and downlink technologies
  • Spaceflight and mission operations experience including CONOPs development
  • Product line engineering experience
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • Familiarity with System Modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
  • Software or scripting language experience
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
  • Familiarity with formal risk and opportunity management processes
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture or a related discipline
Base Pay Range for:
