Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Supplier Development Engineer for Materials & Special Processes to support Falcon and Dragon programs. You will lead technical contact points for special processes, manage supplier quality, and enable rapid, high-volume production of aerospace consumables and coatings.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in engineering, 1+ years in manufacturing or process engineering, and experience with coatings, plating, and related technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Experience in special processes such as thin film coatings, thermal spray coatings, chemical processing, plating, thermal protection systems and/or similar products/processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical contact for outsourced special processes and consumables.
  • Review issues on parts and solve to root cause; re-source when needed.
  • Create and disposition issue tickets with engineering.
  • Be the primary point of contact for supply chain defects.
  • Collaborate with procurement to vet suppliers for quality and takt times.
  • Conduct DFM reviews to ensure manufacturability early.
  • Own the NPI process at supplier for new parts or re-sourcing.
  • Drive PPAP to ensure stable supply and delivery.
  • Demonstrate innovation, technical excellence and attention to detail.
  • Lead containment activities with cross-functional teams.
