Job summary

Intuitive Machines is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA, with the option to work remotely within the United States.

The role focuses on applying systems engineering to design, develop, and integrate software within a broader spacecraft system, coordinating with customers, systems and subsystem engineers to align software with the overall architecture and operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 8+ years of systems engineering and/or software systems engineering experience.
• Ability to travel occasionally for customer reviews and technical meetings.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming and OO programming.
• Familiarity with embedded OS (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, cFS).
• Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (ADCS, C&DH, power, propulsion, payload).
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., JAMA, DOORs).
• Understanding of V&V methodologies and practices.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with customers.

Responsibilities

• Requirements engineering: decompose ConOps and allocate flight software requirements.
• Architecture design: define high-level software architecture aligned with system goals and safety considerations.
• Coordinate integration between flight software and other system components.
• Develop integrated use cases to verify software meets specifications.
• Develop MBSE models using UML/SysML for early validation and issue detection.
• Lead stakeholder discussions with customers and contribute to trade studies.
