Job summary

Archer is an aerospace company in San Jose, California, seeking a senior expert to lead System, Software and Airborne Electrical Hardware (AEH) Design Assurance. You will review lifecycle data and perform design assurance reviews for Archer internal programs and suppliers.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in aerospace DA, a BS in engineering or CS, and hands-on experience with ARP4754A/ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254 and DO-331/Supplements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in System and Software/AEH Design Assurance for aerospace standards.
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with lifecycle safety-critical systems and DO-178C/DO-254 DO-331 DO-326/355 and ARP4754A/4761.
• Experience across multiple systems and AEH environments and tools.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in fast-paced, demanding environments and with agile/lean methods.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for System, Software and AEH Design Assurance for Archer internal development and suppliers.
• Review and approve life-cycle data for systems and AEH.
• Lead System Design Assurance Reviews per ARP4754A/ARP4761 and support authorities.

What you’ll do:

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all aspects of System, Software and Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Design Assurance processes for Archer internal development and for Suppliers.
• Review and approve Software/AEH life-cycle data for Archer internal development and for Suppliers.
• Execute System Design Assurance Reviews for Archer internal system development according to the established system processes and tools for compliance with ARP4754A/ARP4761 and support the Certification Authorities reviews for ARP4754A.
• Execute Supplier Oversight and Design Assurance Company Reviews as SME for Systems, Software and AEH developments according to Archer established process for compliance with ARP4754A/ARP4761, DO-178C and supplements, DO-254 and other certification regulations.
• Support the generation and independent reviews of Archer System, Software and AEH development and verification processes, as needed.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Archer System, Software and AEH processes, with focus on compliance with ARP4754A/ARP4761, DO-254 DO-178C and supplements.
• Interface with FAA DERs and Certification Authorities for coordination, execution and follow-up of systems, software and AEH compliance reviews.
• Maintain and control the issues found in all System/Software/AEH design assurance activities until resolution.

What you need:

• 10+ years of experience in System and Software/AEH Design Assurance activities for aerospace standards.
• At least a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with full lifecycle safety critical systems, software/AEH complying with design assurance standards like ARP4754A/B, ARP4761, DO-254 and DO-178C with supplements.
• Experience with multiple systems and software/AEH environments and tools.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in fast-paced, demanding work environments.
• Experience with agile/lean methodologies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Tool Qualification following DO-330.
• Experience with Model Based Development and Verification following DO-331.
• Experience with DO-326/DO-356 and DO-355.
• Experience with System and Software/AEH developments for an aircraft OEM.
• Experience with FAA Certification Compliance Reviews and regulations.
• Familiarity with Archer CM Tools, e.g. Polarion, Collaborator, Git/Bitbucket, TeamCity, Jira and Teamcenter.

For this position we are targeting a base pay between $207,000 - $259,000 USD. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
