Job summary

Joby Aviation seeks a detail-oriented Quality Inspector for Mechanical Assemblies to execute receiving, in-process, and final inspections across manufacturing operations. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
• Proficiency with standard precision measuring equipment and hand tools.
• Strong computer skills for navigating ERP/MES systems, documenting nonconformances, and logging inspection data.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final physical inspections of parts, sub-assemblies, and final aircraft assemblies.
• Verify physical characteristics, dimensions, and configurations against drawings, specifications, CAD models, and work instructions.
• Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pins, and thread gauges to ensure tolerances.
• Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials; initiate defect reports for MRB.
• Collaborate with Production and Quality Engineering to communicate quality issues and support root-cause investigations.
• Maintain inspection records, traceability logs, and conformity documentation per FAA and QMS standards.
• Support safety, continuous improvement, and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
