Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Ogden, UT is hiring a Quality Inspector I for the weekend shift. You will perform dimensional inspections on high-precision aerospace components and ensure conformance to drawings, AS9102 requirements, and GD&T.

The role supports engineering and manufacturing with detailed documentation and quality control. The position requires experience with CMMs, micrometers, calipers, and metrology tools, and prior exposure to QMS practices in defense/aerospace settings.

Responsibilities

• Operates CMMs to perform dimensional inspections using programs and metrology software.
• Sets up and operates inspection equipment to verify tolerances per drawings.
• Performs AS9102 First Article, in-process, incoming, and final inspections.
• Interprets engineering drawings and applies GD&T principles.
• Executes CMM inspection programs and reports measurement results.
• Verifies critical dimensions for tight-tolerance components.
• Uses micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
• Documents inspection results & enters data into quality database.
• Communicates inspection findings to machinists and production staff.
• Identifies nonconforming material and reports quality issues.
• Reviews production and inspection docs prior to shipment.
• Maintains inspection equipment and a clean area.
• Gains familiarity with materials, coatings, NDT, and special processes.
• Supports QMS requirements and company initiatives.
• Escalates complex issues to Quality Engineering/Management.
