Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Quality Engineer I in Mukilteo, WA to drive quality plans from development through production, support inspections, and lead root cause investigations on aerospace programs.

Ideal candidates have a DoD clearance or can obtain one, with 2+ years in aerospace quality operations and a foundational engineering degree. This full‑time role follows a 9/80 schedule and offers strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• More than 2 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or quality operations.

Responsibilities

• Determines and executes quality plans for projects from development through production.
• Implements new inspection methodologies to support evolving program requirements.
• Supports customer design review activities to align quality expectations.
• Performs in‑process inspections during fabrication and assembly, including AS 9102 First Articles.
• Prepares Technical Data Packages (TDPs) documenting hardware deliverables.
• Reviews purchase orders to ensure accurate contractual, project, and quality flow downs.
• Generates and resolves CARs and NCRs.
• Leads failure investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Performs supply chain risk analysis to identify and mitigate quality risks.
