Job summary

Karman Space and Defense in West Valley City, UT is seeking a Quality Engineer III to drive quality plans for aerospace structures from development through production. You will perform inspections, lead non-conformances, and support design reviews to ensure mission-critical hardware meets AS9100 standards.

The role requires a engineering degree, 5+ years in aerospace quality, GD&T and SPC expertise, and the ability to obtain or hold a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in aerospace systems quality engineering
• Expert knowledge of GD&T and SPC
• Expert knowledge of AS9100 QMS
• DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes quality plans for aerospace structures and systems throughout development and production.
• Implements new quality inspection methodologies to support evolving program and hardware needs.
• Supports customer design review activities to ensure quality requirements are addressed.
• Performs in-process inspections during fabrication and assembly, including Aerospace Standard 9100 First Articles (AS9100 First Articles).
• Prepares Technical Data Packages documenting hardware deliverables.
• Reviews purchase orders for contractual, project, and quality flow-down accuracy.
• Generates, investigates, and resolves Corrective Action Reports and Non-Conformance Reports.
• Leads failure investigations to identify root cause and corrective actions.
• Performs supply chain risk analysis to support quality and program objectives.
