Job summary

Canopy A&D in Ontario, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to maintain quality system policies and procedures in a manufacturing aerospace environment. The role focuses on quality control processes, MRB coordination, and liaison with production to ensure conformance to drawings and specifications.

The candidate will lead RCA investigations, participate in audits, and develop training materials on quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Inspection/Quality experience in manufacturing.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret drawings including GD&T.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize inspection duties.
  • Team player in a fast-changing environment.
  • Experience with mechanical measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of CMM data and geometry.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review customers' purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure quality criteria are included in plans.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Serve as the Quality Assurance representative to the MRB and manage the MRB process.
  • Ensure nonconforming material is isolated and documented per Canopy A&D procedures.
  • Compile, write, and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
  • Interface with machinists and production personnel regarding workmanship and quality issues.
  • Support source inspection activities for various customers.
  • Lead RCA investigations and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead process flow definition and improvement activities.
  • Interface with customers on complaints & returns and corrective actions.
  • Maintain Approved Supplier List.
  • Review job travelers for compliance to drawings and orders.
  • Support inspection activities, including special inspections.
  • Maintain calibration log and certifications for compliance.
