Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Quality Control/Assurance Chemist to perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of in-process samples, ensuring material conformance.

The role reports to the Site Quality Manager and requires strong knowledge of aerospace sealants and coatings. The position emphasizes developing QA procedures, audits, PFMEA, root-cause analysis, and calibration of lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related STEM field; aerospace sealant/coatings preferred.
• 3+ years in a chemistry lab or related analysis role; education in lieu of experience accepted.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience and continuous improvement background encouraged.
• Ability to wear PPE and a full-face respirator; US citizenship and DoD clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of in-process samples to verify conformance.
• Develop and maintain QA procedures and control plans per customer/company requirements.
• Review specifications and ensure alignment with quality system requirements for revisions.
• Lead internal audits, PFMEA, and root cause analysis; manage process control documents.
• Ensure calibration of test equipment and adherence to standard lab SOPs; support AS9100 activities.
