Job summary

KBR is seeking a Purge Technician to support NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The role involves hands-on work with gas purge systems, pressure vessels, and related equipment to meet contamination control and environmental requirements for flight projects.

The position requires extensive experience with purge-related operations, testing, documentation, and coordination with engineers and customers to ensure safety and mission success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical, aerospace, pressure systems, or related operations.
• Experience with gas delivery, regulators, valves, tubing, or pressurized equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, instructions, and procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools and test equipment.
• Documentation and record-keeping is essential.
• Strong organization and attention to detail; able to work independently or in a team.
• NASA site access ability is required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in cleanrooms and labs.

Responsibilities

• Support purge operations during spacecraft assembly and testing.
• Assemble, install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and refurbish purge systems and related equipment.
• Perform leak and pressure tests and operational checkouts of purge systems.
• Support certification and recertification for purge equipment and pressure systems.
• Maintain purge logs, certifications, test records, and reports.
• Coordinate with engineers and customers to support schedules.
• Ensure compliance with NASA, GSFC, OSHA, and KBR safety requirements.
