Job summary

PPG is seeking an Aerospace Product Developer in Burbank, CA, on-site, to lead development of aerospace sealants, adhesives, and coatings from concept to commercialization. You will work with world-leading customers and suppliers, driving new technology and environmentally friendlier products while partnering with manufacturing, marketing, and sales teams.

The role requires advanced degrees in chemistry-related fields and strong communication skills, with 10–20% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
• Available to travel 10-20% annually.
• Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop formulations meeting customer and market needs using the scientific method and DOE.
• Invent new technology and testing techniques to address unmet customer needs.
• Collaborate with the aerospace team to derisk raw material obsolescence and mitigate impact on product qualifications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, marketing, and sales to launch new products and new technologies to our customers. Lead problem solving during launch.
• Prepare and present project updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Identify potential risks related to qualification and customer concerns and implement corrective actions.
