Job summary

Mimir Engineering in San Diego, CA is seeking an Engineer to design, analyze, and integrate opto-mechanical systems across aerospace and commercial space customers, delivering cradle-to-grave projects from concept to flight hardware.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of system architects, create CAD models, BOMs, and test prototypes, with opportunities for career growth and bonus potential; travel modest, base salary range 95k-145k plus bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience in opto-mechanical design or precision mechanical design.
• Understanding of optical integration techniques and considerations.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (CAD & simulation), Matlab, and Zemax.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop assemblies and sub-systems for a diverse range of applications such as remote sensing, communications, data analytics, defense.
• Develop innovative technical solutions to meet performance and survivability requirements of hardware.
• Design, build, and test prototypes, flight hardware, and ground support equipment (GSE).
• Create detailed engineering documentation (CAD models, drawings, BOMs, reports, instructions, presentations).
• Prepare slides for and present in customer design reviews and meetings as required.
