Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a mechanical/thermal engineer to design multi-layer insulation for the New Glenn Upper Stage. You will own MLI design from concept through production, interfacing with analysts and manufacturing to ensure thermal performance in launch and on-orbit environments.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's in mechanical/ aerospace engineering and 3+ years in aerospace thermal design, with Creo and thermal analysis tool experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of thermal or mechanical MLI design experience in aerospace.
• Familiarity with spacecraft thermal environments and insulation design.
• Experience creating engineering drawings and specs with CAD tools.
• Knowledge of thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop or SINDA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and iterate MLI blankets and thermal control systems for New Glenn Upper Stage.
• Collaborate with thermal analysts to translate heat flux into manufacturable designs.
• Define material selections, layer counts, and attachment methods.
• Create detailed drawings, fabrication specs, and installation procedures.
• Support testing including calorimeter, installation verification, and thermal vacuum tests.
